Over 75 years
of tooling
and molding.

Founded in 1950, Modern Mold & Tool is a tooling and injection molding company built for OEMs that need predictable lead times, documented process control, and one accountable partner from DFM through production and assembly.

Built for the program, not the part. Our in-house tool shop, 35+ presses from 40 to 1000 tons, and Class 8 cleanrooms let us transition tools directly into qualified production, shortening revision cycles and supporting structured IQ/OQ/PQ validation for regulated work.

Modern Mold & Tool is headquartered in Pittsfield, Massachusetts with a dedicated medical molding operation in Ormond Beach, Florida. A division of Toner Plastics Group.

  1. 1950

    Modern Mold & Tool Established

    Founded in Pittsfield, Massachusetts as a custom mold-making and injection molding shop serving industrial and defense customers.

  2. 1990s

    Expansion into Medical Programs

    Added Class 8 cleanroom capability and scientific molding discipline to support medical device OEMs.

  3. 2000s

    Ormond Beach, FL Facility

    Opened a dedicated Southeast operation focused on medical-grade molding and cleanroom production, doubling capacity and adding geographic redundancy.

  4. 2016

    Joined the Toner Plastics Group

    Acquired by Toner Plastics Group, gaining access to integrated polymer expertise and balance-sheet stability while keeping the MMT brand, team, and tool shop intact.

  5. 2017

    Streamline Plastics Acquired

    Streamline was acquired to expand Modern and Toners ability to supply components to the purchase display industry, the toy industry, writing instruments and products for a variety of custom applications

  6. 2021

    Pittsfield,MA Facility Expansion

    The new building unlocks capability and capacity which has access to rail and contains over 66,000 square feet

  7. 2024

    Solar-Powered Pittsfield Facility

    The Pittsfield campus transitioned to solar power, reducing operating cost volatility and aligning with customer ESG requirements.

  8. 2026

    Incepta Tooling Bridge Program

    Launched Incepta Tooling, a rapid P20/H13 steel tooling program delivering first shot in as little as four weeks for pilot and bridge production.

Production Molding

High-volume and tight-tolerance injection molding across 35+ Nissei and CINN/Mila presses, running engineering-grade resins under scientific molding discipline.

Build · Transfer · Maintain

In-House Tooling

Full-service tool design, build, transfer, and preventative maintenance. DFM, gate design, cooling optimization, and Moldflow-driven improvements before steel is cut.

Bridge Tooling · 4 Weeks

Incepta Tooling

Production-grade P20/H13 steel tooling. First shot in as little as four weeks, from $4,500, up to 25,000 parts. Validates resin, gating, and weld performance before multi-cavity commitment.

Class 8 · Ormond Beach, FL

Cleanroom Molding

ISO Class 8 cleanroom molding for medical and life-sciences programs, with IQ/OQ/PQ validation, traceability, and full PPAP/FAI documentation.

Decorating · Joining · Kitting

Secondary & Assembly

Laser marking (UDI/QR), pad printing, heat staking, Telsonic ultrasonic welding, insert installation, sub-assembly and kitting in-house.

Turnkey Delivery

Packaging & Fulfillment

Custom trays, tubes, bulk and kitted packaging. Drop-ship and direct-to-customer fulfillment, with supply chain integration for line-ready delivery.

Tools are qualified, maintained, revised, and supported in our own toolroom for the production life of the program.
